HTC Windows 8X Vs HTC Windows 8S

HTC dives in head first into the small Windows Phone 8 pool with the release of their two new devices. The HTC
Windows 8X is a flagship Windows Phone 8 device, while the HTC Windows 8S is somewhere along the mid-range
lineup. Let’s see how the two stack up against one another.
In terms of dimensions, the two devices are fairly comparable – the Windows 8X is 132.3 x 66.2 x 10.1mm while the
Windows 8S is 120.5 x 63 x 10.3mm. The difference is partly contributed by the fact that the Windows 8X has a
4.3-inch display while the Windows 8S has a smaller 4-inch equivalent.
As far as processing power goes, the Windows 8X has a more powerful dual-core 1.5GHz Krait processor with 1GB of
RAM to do its work, while the Windows 8S makes do with lesser dual-core 1 GHz processor and half the RAM.
Another thing the Windows 8X has going for it is its 16GB internal storage, whereas the Windows 8S scraps by with
only 4GB. Thankfully, both devices support microSDs of up to 32GB, should you feel the need to expand further.
Furthermore, the Windows 8X is fitted with an 8-megapixel shooter, which is the current standard for high-end
devices. Consequently, the Windows 8S has a lesser 5-megapixel camera equipped, putting it in the mid-range
category.
All in all, there are some significant differences in terms of hardware between the Windows 8X and Windows 8S , but
at the end of the day, the pricing will determine whether or not the disparity is justified. That’s not to say the
Windows 8S is in any way inferior, but chances are you will be expected to pay a premium to get its higher-end
counterpart.

The Windows Phone 8X is HTC’s juggernaught, as hinted by its name, putting it on the premium pedestal that the
One X currently stands.
HTC ’s entrant is equipped with a 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 display of 1280 x 720 pixels, with Gorilla Glass 2 coating. The
device is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor with 1GB of RAM. Expect to see 16GB of internal
storage at your disposal, alongside WiFi a/b/g/n support, as well as the inclusion of NFC .

The Windows Phone 8S , which when based on previous naming schemes, is a midrange device. Don’t be fooled
though, the two-tone polycarbonate body houses some rather decent specifications.
The 4-inch smartphone has a dual-core S4 processor under the hood, which is clocked at 1GHz, supported by 512MB
of RAM. Not exactly a beast, but it should be sufficient to run Microsoft’s mobile operating system without a hitch.
Users will find a paltry 4GB of internal storage within, but fret not, this can expanded, thanks to the microSD slot that
HTC has included.  The rear camera is a very standard 5-megapixel affair, with no front-facing shooter included. All
these will be powered by a 1700 mAh battery.
